David Riley

Co-Founder and CEO

Dave is co-founder and CEO of Vorago IT.

He's been working in IT since 2003, starting in 1st and 2nd line support and working his way through systems engineering, enterprise security, and cloud infrastructure over the next two decades.

Before founding Vorago, he held engineering roles at MSPs, then moved into security consultancy, maintaining a strong technical grounding throughout.

He founded Vorago Security in 2017 and co-founded Vorago IT a year later, the practical IT delivery arm of what is becoming a broader IT and security group.

Certified across many areas over the years, from MCP to CISSP, he's now more focused on learning than credentials, with a particular interest in AI and automation.

He knows the stack because he's spent years working in it.

At Vorago IT, his job is to make sure clients get practical IT support and delivery, without the noise.

That means understanding how each organisation actually operates and recommending what is right for the business, even when it is not the answer that earns us the most. Our approach is pragmatic, proportionate and focused on delivery.

We prioritise fixing the real problem over closing the ticket, and we avoid unnecessary complexity wherever possible.

Mike has over 27 years of experience in IT, specialising in cloud platforms, infrastructure, and strategic technology leadership for businesses across the UK.

As Co-Founder and Managing Director of Vorago IT, he works closely with clients to simplify technology, strengthen security, and deliver practical solutions that support business growth.

His experience spans everything from hands-on technical delivery to strategic IT planning at board-level, giving him a unique ability to align technology with commercial objectives.

Known for his calm, pragmatic approach, Mike is passionate about building long-term client relationships and ensuring technology delivers genuine value. 

Outside of work, he volunteers in falconry, supporting the care and handling of birds of prey - an interest that reflects his patience, focus, and respect for precision.

Mike is a seasoned IT professional having started back in the late 1990s when everything was fixable with dark magic or a large hammer.

He has experience in almost the entire range of IT areas from support desk operations, infrastructure projects and cloud services to cyber security and compliance.

But not development, because that’s for nerds.

As Director of Operations, he oversees how Vorago IT delivers its services day to day, making sure clients get fast, practical support without any unnecessary complexity.

He has a track record of helping SMEs shape their technology strategy and loves to explain complex technical topics in a way that makes sense to everyone.
